With the futures of so many restricted free agents remaining uncertain, including that of Golden State Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga, there remains a number of veteran players who are yet to be signed over the last five days. One of those is former Warrior guard De'Anthony Melton, with the 27-year-old recovering from a torn ACL he sustained in just his sixth game with the franchise against the Dallas Mavericks in November. Dan Woike of The Athletic stated that there is expected to be mutual interest between Melton and the Lakers in free agency, though nothing has been forthcoming to this point.

The Lakers' summer league team built a double-digit lead in the first half but lost to the Golden State Warriors, 89-84, in the first game of the California Classic on Saturday afternoon at the Chase Center. The Lakers led by four points at halftime but were outscored 30-17 in the third quarter and never regained the lead. Cole Swider paced the Lakers, shooting 6 for 8 from 3-point range on his way to a game-high 24 points and a team-best eight rebounds.

Earlier today, the Brooklyn Nets released their official roster for the Las Vegas Summer League. While the squad is headlined by the team's five first-round picks and a few returning players from last season, it also features a new addition who spent time with another NBA organization last year. After spending last season with the Los Angeles Lakers and their G League affiliate, the South Bay Lakers, point guard Quincy Olivari will be spending this Summer League with the Brooklyn Nets.

It's well-documented that the Los Angeles Lakers agreed to a historic seven-team trade five months after completing a blockbuster deal for Luka Doncic. The Lakers, who will receive first-year contributor Adou Thiero in the reported deal, are hoping to receive an additional asset or two via a sign-and-trade involving former forward Dorian Finney-Smith. Unfortunately, the latest update surrounding Los Angeles' sign-and trade attempt will undoubtedly disappoint the franchise. “I've seen lots of outside speculation about the possibility of the Lakers receiving something for Dorian Finney-Smith in a hypothetical sign-and-trade,” Fred Katz wrote Saturday.
